A couple of you will know that my most favorite bike in the World cracked recently (in 3 places). Gutted. The first one Andy hooked me up with met a similar demise so even though the NZ distributor replaced it for me I had pretty much lost faith in the build quality of this otherwise sweet machine. So - after a natter with the Mrs I decided to stick the replacement on Trade Me (NZ equivalent of E-bay) and go get something with a bit more pedigree. I have wanted a Yeti ever since Andy got one off a guy for painting his house in the states - it looked ace - so thats what I went for. I've only done 1 decent ride on the beast but it felt good - not massively better than my old one (which is no bad thing) but finish/quality wise it looks like a machine for life.

Nice bike Peej, but in my experience the only full suspension frame that is a "machine for life" is one that you hang on your living room wall to just to look at. They all meet the evil "Mr. Cracky" eventually.

Whats that all about John - I cant remember ever having this problem in the past. Fair enough I cracked a few frames (Trek and some super light thing with a tiny wishbone seat stay) but the Commencal looked built to take it and with CAD type design (and an additional 10 yrs of MTB R&D) I would have thought al modern frames would be built fit for purpose?! Even that super light yellow thing Andy sold me 5 yrs or so ago is hanging together no problem? Anyway - we'll see with this new one. Its definitely 'designed' to take more than I will be throwing at it round here so fingers crossed. Jake has been raving about his new Reba Teams (funny - they are probably 1000x more fork than he needs but for that price who would complain) - he is a Merlin convert.
Are you loving the Tour? Funny to see Wiggins up there - makes me think that the big names have eased back off the EPO at last. The 3rd week should be good to watch - as if Lance is going to be able to resist sticking in at least 1 big attack.

I'm lovin the tour this year. You would think Contador or Armstrong would have a go in the next few stages, maybe they'll just fight it out on Ventoux on the last day. Would love Wiggins to finish in the top five, he could get third even.

I can't stand Cavendish though, he's a right little arrogant tosspot, he's got really shifty set back eyes. I suppose he's young and very gifted, it must be difficult to stay grounded.

Hiya

Do you have any kinds of sprint events in your neighbourhood?

Someone sent me a flyer for the Dwellingup 100 MTB Classic
http://www.dwellingup100.com.au/ It's about 10 times further than I could ride, but I guess they have a few events like that where you are?

How has the SBS stream been? I haven't got a ditigal TV so I don't get to see SBS's TV coverage, but they show some highlights, which have been pretty spectacular.
