Job change 06/04/2009

Just a quick update cause I know things have been quiet for a bit. Anyway - both Mrs Jennings and I have got ourselves a new job, both of which start on Monday.
Lisa's is a kind of promotion, still working for the same team, but she is now in a kind of communication/organiser role for a new way of working between all the social service departments in the area. Less hands on, more co-ordinating and planning. Its also rumored to pay more so its all good.
I got sick of the guys I was working for so have lined up a plum job with a design/communications agency called Dry Crust. They mainly do local government internal and external communications stuff, but also have a cool website development team and do a lot of branding/adverts etc. It seems a nice place, all very laid back and 'creative' so I'm looking forward to getting started.
Thats it - all else is great. I'll post some other stuff soon and, yes mum, I'll put some more recent pics on Flickr.
Live long and prosper

Congrats on the new jobs. Lisa's I take it was gained through hard work and excellence, whereas your's was a case of "they've seen through me and now see the workshy, hiding in the toilets, fop that I am, I'd better leave quick"

Enjoy

Isn't that how it always works (unfortunately your not quite right about Lisa's endeavours, its more corrupt than any private sector employer - she was a shoe in)! Cheers for your kind words anyway JP. On a more interesting note I hooked up a 575 from the states yesterday. Cant wait to get that sucker. Even with postage it was about 50% cheaper than the UK price - gotta love them Yanks when it comes to retail.
Have a nice weekend now.

PS - what the hell are you doing checking this site anyway, you have unwittingly blown your 'I couldn't care less' front. I love you to xxxxxx

Who IS JP anyway? Do we need to know........sending love and XXXs to each other?!
Anyway, we send our SINCERE congratulations to Lisa, and to you...what can we say, you've gone and done it again.......you're like a Butterfly Man! Try and stick it out for a 12-months this time......congrats anyway (we've lost count, this must be the 30th time we've sent you Congrats since you first started working like ordinary mortals, not counting the Big Race Winning Events on 2-wheels! Does the purchase of a 575 mean that Dad can now sell that red beauty that hangs on our garage wall......?
Luv y'all too much. X

JP's just spent a weekend with me as well as seeing Andy for a ride so he's desperate for someone who he can't smell or listen to! (that's you)

JP is also known as Peacock (the John variety) Mum. And NO, I am keen to get hold of that red road frame now I have thought of it, I'll get you to pop it in the post some time when its convenient (maybe JP could hook me up with an old bike box?).

Yeah, thanks anyway Mum, looking forward to starting, the old place wasn't worthy of my talents. Lisa is down in Christchurch Tuesday & Wednesday getting some training so its going to be a hectic week coming up. All good fun though.

How was Wales Joe? Any pics or youtube video I can laugh at?

What kind of name is "Dry Crust"? It sounds like something you go to the Doctors with to get a cream to apply twice daily to make it go away.

It certainly is a strange name, but I associated it with being hard-up, you know, on the bread-line, eating hard crusts.....dry crusts......maybe that's a spot-on description?

Dunno - the owner, Mark, is a pretty well known Kiwi poet (as well as having been a band manager/promoter for most of the 70's and 80's) so has a very 'artistic' view on life. Apparently Dry Crust comes from a quote in something that says "A dry crust eaten with contentment always offers more than strife behind the banquet door". What that actually means I have no idea!

Its a pretty cool place to work though (on first impressions) - we have donut Thursdays and a masseur who comes in once a week to keep the troops relaxed and happy. Beats working.

Ah - actually its from a Bible verse:

Proverbs 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.

So there you go - I'm in a cult!

Well, you see, we learn something new every day. I really like that verse from Proverbs and share that sentiment.
You in a Cult!? Never. Enjoy the massage.

Cool! Hope you both enjoy your new jobs more. Today I wish I could have a new job...or the same job somewhere else away from my colleagues who I seem to manage to piss off every day. Off to UK on friday morning for a looooong break so hopefully it will re-energise me for sept when I will be trapped in a room with 27 howling, crying, weeing 3 year olds for 6 hours a day. Anyone fancy swapping jobs?!

Wales was Scotland. you forgotten where the principalities lie now you've chuffed off? some pics on facebook. will upload sparce video footage when i remember and a blog of the event too. don't hold your breath, which is the opposite of what i had to do after sharing a tent with JP for 3 nights. JP, if you're watching, seriously, did you get yourself checked out at the doctors?
there would have been more footage but Andy and John kept shouting 'get the hammer down' in a quite juvenile manner.
found some sweet hidden trails in the Chevin last night. time to get a helmet cam me thinks.

Hey Guys

Nice work getting promotions and new jobs. Sounds like you're really settling down in Niw Zulund and the Lord (Nelson that is) is treating you well.

Don't have bike stories to share, and sorry to be a scratched record, but getting ready to enjoy the Aussies spank the Poms once again, starting in Cardiff. Anyway, the Tour starts next week (as you're probably aware) - watch for Cadel again.

Hey Garry, that link is perfect. Didn't think I would get to check the Tour out (every decent sporting event down here is monopolised by Sky, we don't even get All Black games, can you believe it!). I can see a long night coming on for one of the big mountain stages.

I'm not sure the TV cameras cover many of the also rans, but if they change that approach I will most definitely keep an eye out for Cadel - he is easy to miss sitting behind everyone all day though.

Look forward to my new adopted AB's bringing the Tri nations home in an unprecedented clean sweep. Cant be any harder than trying to beat France.

Hope all is well with you - its bloody snowing here now. Bring on summer.

Yeahgoodonya! Cadel came 2nd in 2008 and 2007, so don't look too far back for him. That said, the informed word is that his team needs to be stronger. Again it's going to be hard to beat Astana...

As for Tri Nations, it might be a tale of two recent headlines:
NEW Zealand beat Italy 27-6 yesterday, although an error-ridden performance cast doubt upon their capacity to defend their Tri-Nations title.

SUPERSTAR five-eighth Matt Giteau scored all the points as the Wallabies issued a warning to their Tri Nations rivals with a 22-6 win over France.

Bring it on!

Temperatures getting chilly here. Some crystal clear days up to 18C, but getting down to 4 overnight. Brrr!

Hey Garry - I think I'm going to start a new thread so we can get into some running commentary on this (thats if your still interested after GB's double stage win, green jersey and likely first Ashes test glory). I'm sure the mighty Aus will bounce back sooner or later - here is hoping, no one likes it too one sided!??

Garry

That sounds like an excellent idea Paul;
the drama that is set to unfold across several continents requires a new and broad canvas.

Punter's men are settling in for a draw in Cardiff, to set up wins in the next 3 Tests.

Cavendish looks reasonably comfortable in green, apart from Hushovd breathing down his neck.

Fortune favours the brave.

Taking Cadel out of the equation all is not lost. I think you're still well in line for an Ashes overall - the English delight at a crappy desperate draw is a bit depressing - and the Tri nations will be good to watch, quite a few injury issues with my team (erm, all Blacks that is - us Brits cling to any sporting glory we can - Cavendish isn't even a mainlander).

Congrats on the F1 victory as well - good effort by Webber, I quit like his style and he has come a long way since last season.

Hope all is good over the Tasman

Oh!! what despair eh R Garry lad, when you awoke on Monday morning to find out that it was a draw, who cares how it was achieved.......little Ponting threw everything he could at our stirling tailenders and how they responded!! And don't try telling me that HE wouldn't have wasted a few minutes here and there!
Even your Pa, who doesn't even have any interest in the lovely Game, left a caustic message on our answering machine before he turned in for the night on Sunday...he must have choked on his cornflakes at breakfast the next day. I was highly amused!! I reckon that we, the great British public, will be doing the celebrating at the end of the 2nd at Lords tomorrow 20th. Good on our Northern lads, Flintoff & Anderson, eh, nah then! X
