Call me Captain 09/17/2008

If you read the Dog post then you will know we are heading down to Christchurch (or ChCh in local speak) this weekend. The plan is to go down the East coast road, through Blenheim and Kaikoura (where they have some big seal colonies so we will be stopping by there and get ourselves some pelts and free burgers). The reason for the trip is, get this, we have bought ourselves a boat. Oh yes, can you believe it?! I'm not safe to captain a birdseye fish finger never mind a sea bound vessel! Anyway, for those of you with a technical bent its a 5.6m aluminium cuddy cabin with a 90HP 2 stroke outboard. It can apparently take 6 adults and will be getting used for some fishing, exploring the Marlborough Sounds and Tasman park, some diving/doughnuting/snorkeling and generally mucking around in. Its the kind of size thats easy enough to launch/trailer so we will also be taking it up to the Nelson Lakes Nat Park for a raz now and again.

I'll put some pics on Flickr when we have some but suffice to say we are very, very excited. And before you send in e-mails of concern worry ye not, Lisa already has me booked onto a course to learn about tides, weather and which side to wee off.

All aboard.

You'll love it Steve - its better than I could have hoped. So much to do on your doorstep (just got n from a quick night ride with the guys - loads of fun) and the weather to be able to enjoy it. Its given me a new lease of life.

chuff me Seaman Stains, how much was that boat! you must have made a packet from selling your house or the NZ dollar is worth less than Halifax shares. i'm assuming with your skills Lisa is going to be captain and you're master bates. i just hope Buster isn't Roger the cabin boy.
Ho Ho me hearties! there's something moving in them waters.....

I would have guessed that, if there was anyone, you would be the Captain Pugwash fan Joe. I bet you were chuckling aloud to yourself writing that. Combine Pugwash with Roundabout and full sugar Ribena and its no wonder our generation turned out like it did!

ah, fond memories of childhood. chuckling loudly. i'll have to dig out my old Captain Pugwash books for the boys, though i know that all of the above characters are merely fabrications. what a shame.
talking of old school we now have a full set of Indiana Jones toys to re create the 'chasing the Nazis on the truck scene'. the truck comes with collapsing fornt grill and rope dragging action. i think i might actually get round to filimng the remake and putting it on youtube.
so how's the boat? found a hidden inner ear problem?
i'm leading my first North Leeds ride tomorrow night. taking them through Gledhow woods and the drop of darkness that comes out by your old house. i'm going to try it full pelt in the dark and see how many come tumbling down after.... i'm imagining a Goonies style collection of falling riders and bikes piling up at the bottom.

JP says he's refusing to go read your blog any more as you're just rubbing our noses in it. I say you're just making it up and you're miserable, lonely and poor. it's just an elaborate hoax like the moon landings.

Since I messed up my flickr I am unable to add comments under the photos Paul, such a bother, I'll sort it out in time...the pictures of Buster in his Spiderman suit are gorgeous , as are all the others.
We know that you are just so busy having fun, nice job, big garden, bike rides, the boat, cocktail parties to attend, dog to walk and boy to amuse...oh! yes! and wife too.....and now summer weather arriving...but try to find 5mins now and then to keep your Diary updated, we all enjoy it! XX

Just wondering if you are still going to refer to your child as B Dog now that you have a dog who's name begins with B?
People might get confused.

Lets hear about Bones and his first week as a Jennings then...I want to hear about poo in your shoe and chewed stuff.

Just for the record, I don't think you sound like you are rubbing noses in it, I think you write very well and sound happy as bru!

But I want Lisa to write more!! Give her a jab with a pointed finger from me.

That's a good point that Jemma has made;
can we start to call Harry Harry now?

His 'name' wouldn't be Harry if I had a say anyway so no, you cant. He is our pet and you'll call him Buster for as long as he doesn't have a valid opinion. Good point Jem but its handy just having to bawl one name and they both come running - just need to train Lisa up now 8)

I know - update today some time - believe me, its not through laziness (your spot on Jem, wee and poo everywhere and that just Buster!)
